The calm water cove allows for safe swimming, floating, kayaking and paddle-boarding for worry free water play. The back yard is landscaped with crepe myrtles, dogwoods, and a japanese maple which attract numerous birds throughout the year, including a large blue heron who perches on the tip of the boathouse. The gas grill is on the deck right outside the kitchen door, along with an additional seating area offering a great option for lazy summer evenings. The 2,000 sf basement has recently been finished with 2 extra-large master suites, each with a shower bath and private patio. Each of these rooms also offers an additional sleeping option (double futon and twin pull-out loveseat), which might work well for families with children. In the basement there's also a powder room and additional kitchen area with a full-size fridge, microwave and Keurig, as well as an extra-large family room with a gaming area, puzzle table, foosball table, stand-alone video arcade game and a comfortable area to watch TV. No need to go driving around on your first day looking for a public boat ramp or spending precious time at the end of the week driving to get everything loaded back up again - take one last sunset or sunrise cruise and then just back your trailer down the ramp. The cement boat ramp also offers a great place to launch kayaks from or to retrieve paddle boards and toys. The backyard has a very gentle slope leading to the boat dock and bulkhead area where there’s plenty of space to tie up boats, jet skis and toys. The water depth at the end of the dock is about 8’ and the cove is wide enough so there’s plenty of room to play or just float. The upper level of the dock is equipped with a table and chairs, lounge chairs and an extra-large umbrella, making it one of the owner’s favorite spots to relax and spend the day. This 2900 sq ft house has space for everyone set on a beautiful 1-acre waterfront lot, plenty of room for yard and lake activities. A lot of homes on the lake require you to walk down quite a few flights of stairs or a steep slope to get to the dock and the water. This home sits on a completely flat lot and has no stairs on the dock! It’s great for vacationers who just want a simple walk down to the water to hop on the dock and enjoy the lake for the day! This home is also located in a private, safe neighborhood called Olde Ferry Estates. Feel free to take a quick brisk morning jog while everyone sleeps in! Our Lake Gaston cottage is located in a low traffic open cove just off the main lake. Enjoy swimming, fishing, boating or just relaxing in the perfect location. The dock features full sun almost all day. Boaters can tie up on either side of the dock. There is a diving board for the gymnasts in the family. Plenty of room for chairs or laying out. The house is located in a subdivision with quick access to a gas/ convenience store. Restaurants and a strip mall with a Food Lion is just a few miles down the main road. Three bed rooms and a pull out couch ensures plenty of sleep area for this small cottage. Two bedrooms feature full size beds and the other bedroom features two sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4). Our backyard leads right to the water and our boat dock, which is the center of lake life. The water off the dock is about 6 feet deep which is great for older kids and adults. Come and enjoy one of Virginia’s and North Carolina’s best kept secrets! Lake Gaston is a clear and beautiful lake located in the Piedmont of southern Virginia and northern North Carolina. It is the last major impoundment on the Roanoke River, and offers excellent water quality and water level fluctuations that are less than one foot. It is 35 miles long and has over 350 miles of shoreline. Lake Gaston is within a four hour drive of Washington DC, an hour and a half to two hours from Raleigh North Carolina and Virginia Beach Virginia. The property is located in the Quail Ridge subdivision on Lizard Creek, which is a major tributary on the northeast shore of the lake. Lizard Creek is a favorite with skiers and tubers because its water is usually calmer than the water on the main lake. It is also centrally located, has easy access to the main lake and is close (15-25 minutes) to three full service marinas. A Food Lion grocery, an Ace Hardware store, a Subway sandwich shop, Dollar General, miniature golf course and an indoor/outdoor flea market (Friday through Sunday) are all located less than ten minutes from the house. Thursday night, it’s bingo at the local fire hall. Restaurants are scattered around the lake and they range from diner style to more upscale. The closest large town is Roanoke Rapids, and is a 35 minutes drive from the house. There's a Belk Store, Lowes, Penney's, Super Wal-Mart, movie theater, and numerous eateries located there. Our lake house is a comfortable, Non-Smoking, Pet-Free, single-level home with most everything you will need to make your stay at Lake Gaston an enjoyable one. (Please note that renters are responsible for providing their own bed linens and towels). Each bedroom has a view of the lake with access to the deck through a sliding glass door. We have Cable TV, a video and DVD player (movies are provided), WiFi, board games, books and puzzles...everything that will provide inside entertainment for fun family evenings or during inclement weather. Outside is where the real fun is! Our level lot leads to the water and the boat dock, which is the center of lake life. We have a small sandy beach that's perfect for young children, plus the water off the dock is about 5 feet deep which is great for older kids and adults. Swimming, fishing, sunbathing, and relaxing on the glider all happen right there. It’s a great place to view the beautiful evening sky and sunsets. Skiing and tubing can be started right in front of the dock. A paddleboat is provided, and is a fun way to explore the local waters. There is a boat ramp next to the dock which makes for convenient launch and recovery. There is also a covered boat lift, plus room for a boat of up to 25 foot to be tied up to the dock. Besides the water sports, fishing is excellent at Lake Gaston! Available species include striped bass, largemouth bass, crappie, perch, sunfish, and our favorite dinner fish, channel catfish. Fishing from the dock is a favorite pastime for both young and old alike. Early mornings and evenings are usually better, but when is fishing not good? We want to remind our guests that it's necessary to have a NC or VA fishing license, even if just fishing off the dock (obtainable online from the Dept of Fish and Game). Lastly, one of the best pastimes at the lake is RELAXING! Whether it be enjoying the view, reading a book, or napping in the shade on our wonderful hammock. There is something about the lake that lets you leave everyday stress behind for awhile. Two miles by car to The Pointe and Watersview. Four miles from Food Lion, drug store, Dollar General and Ace Hardware. Sit on the deck, dock or the sandy beach and watch the herons go by. Home has 2 bedrooms, a sleeping loft and 2 bathrooms. Open floor plan with great view of the lake. Den has a comfy sofa and the well equipped kitchen includes a large dining table. There is a large deck for grilling and chilling. Big Stonehouse Creek Lodge is right across the cove where you can rent boats and jet skis, and get gas or bait. The den has a fireplace, TV, VCR, and stereo. Both bedrooms and bathrooms are on the main level, one bedroom with a king size bed and the other with a queen size bed. The loft has 2 twin beds and a futon that opens to a full size. All bedrooms are equipped with a TV. The laundry room is off the kitchen. Please provide your own bath towels, sheets and beach towels. Outside, the deck is equipped with picnic tables and plenty of seating when grilling out on the gas grill while enjoying the view of the lake. The outdoor fire pit is perfect for family marshmallow roasting and story telling. The boathouse includes a large main deck, and tie up space for your boat. Great for fishing or watching the world go by. House is on a great cove for wakeboarding, skiing or tubing. A neighborhood launch is only one block away. The water depth at the end of the dock is about 5 feet. No smoking. No pets.

We have a spacious, fully equipped kitchen, den and dining area with 5 large bedrooms. Families enjoy making memories from boating, skiing, wake boarding, jet skiing, and fishing on the lake, an evening of grilling out and relaxing watching the big game, movies and playing board games! Come enjoy the incredible sunsets in the fall! We recently completed a complete re-landscaping of the lake side and added a slate patio with fire pit, easy steps to the water or if you prefer a lighted path all the way from the driveway to the boat house. The house is just across the lake from Morningstar and Stonehouse Marinas with ethanol free gas, boat rentals and bait. It is a short boat or car ride to restaurants with gazebos and live music. We are renting weekly for the summer on a Sunday to Sunday schedule but we will work with you to accommodate your needs where feasible. Just let us know what what dates you prefer! Although we have more than 10 beds in the house, we strictly limit guests to 10 maximum due to septic system limitations. We also have no smoking and no pets restrictions.

Small children can be easily supervised away from the water at the play gym in the large grassy play area in the front yard. Adults will appreciate that even with a large group, the sleeping and common spaces allow for a feeling of privacy and discretion. Two office areas provide a quiet space for working vacations. Parking is never an issue with a large concrete pad and don't worry about dusty gravel roads, as we are paved all the way from your doorstep to ours! All of our guests are invited to use one of the 5 KAYAKS provided for exploring the nearby coves or participating in one of the small group outings lead by the local Lake Gaston Outfitters. We do provide a limited supply of life jackets with the kayaks. However, you may want to bring your own life jackets to ensure that "just right" fit for everyone (especially small children!). You are in a PRIME location on the South side of the lake. Guests coming from the North or South using the I85 corridor will be pleasantly surprised by the accessibility from major metro areas. By water you are just a few minutes to the Eatons Ferry Bridge and the local waterfront restaurants.
